VITACOMPLETE Mineral Balancer for Horses | A Complete Winter & Hay Forage Support 🍂OCTOBER SALE - 20%-OFF - USE CODE RESET20

Hay all year? Track system? Or winter feeding well underway?
When hay makes up most of your horse's diet, there's more to think about than simply replacing fresh grass with conserved forage.
You may already be feeding minerals, linseed and salt separately – and wondering whether you've got everything covered.
That's where we'd look at VitaComplete, our all-in-one daily nutritional balancer for horses living primarily on hay, combining essential minerals, amino acids, micronised linseed and sea salt in one straightforward blend.
" My 26-year-old cob is thriving. Great overall improvements using VitaComplete." LH
It's designed to support everyday nutrition, healthy hooves, coat condition and overall wellbeing, without having to build the basics from several different tubs.
Same horse, different forage, different nutritional needs.
No synthetic fillers or unnecessary additives - just the core nutrients your horse actually needs, produced to trusted quality standards.
NB. If your horse is mainly grazing fresh grass, EquiVita may be the better fit.
*For the latest mineral balancing updates, see our main Mineral Solutions page.

Overview - when hay becomes the main menu
Grass and hay might both be forage, but they're not nutritionally identical.
Fresh growing grass naturally provides essential fatty acids and other nutrients that can decline when grass is cut, dried and stored as hay.
And while good-quality hay remains the cornerstone of a healthy equine diet, it doesn't necessarily provide everything your horse needs in the right amounts.
That's where nutritional balancing comes in.
More than just minerals
VitaComplete brings together the nutrients we'd particularly consider for horses relying mainly on hay or conserved forage:
- Essential minerals – including magnesium, zinc, copper, selenium and phosphorus, supporting normal metabolic function, tissue maintenance and hoof health.
- Micronised linseed – providing essential fatty acids that become less available when fresh grazing is replaced by hay.
- Lysine and methionine – two essential amino acids involved in muscle maintenance, hoof growth and everyday tissue repair.
- Sea salt – contributing sodium and chloride, important for fluid balance, nerve function and normal muscle activity.
- Vitamin E – supporting the body's natural antioxidant defences, particularly relevant when fresh grazing is limited.
Rather than you having multiple tubs in the feedroom and adding them in separately, VitaComplete combines them in one daily blend.
Different forage, different foundation
This is also why we have two mineral balancers.
- EquiVita is our mineral-focused option for horses whose diets include meaningful fresh grazing.
- VitaComplete is for horses relying more heavily on hay, whether that's through winter, on a track system, or simply because conserved forage is their main menu all year round.
And there's no need to change products just because the calendar changes. What matters is what your horse is actually eating - because the feeding plan starts with the forage - not the season.
How VitaComplete fits into your horse's support plan
VitaComplete is a good fit when hay or conserved forage makes up most of your horse's diet, and you'd rather cover the nutritional basics in one daily blend than juggle several separate supplements.
You might recognise your feeding routine here:
✔ Your horse lives on a track system or has limited access to fresh grazing.
✔ Hay is the main forage source, whether that's in winter or all year round.
✔ You're already feeding minerals, linseed and salt separately.
✔ You want to support healthy hooves, coat and general condition through consistent nutrition.
✔ You'd prefer one straightforward daily routine rather than several tubs and scoops.
In summary
The deciding factor isn't about the time of year - it's how much fresh grass your horse is actually eating.
Mostly fresh grass? Think EquiVIta .
Mostly hay? Think VitaComplete.
And if your horse's diet sits somewhere in between, look at the overall forage intake rather than automatically changing products with the seasons.
VitaComplete takes care of the hay fundamentals in one simple step – so everything else you do has a stronger foundation to work from.

The science behind VitaComplete – five nutritional jobs, one daily blend
When it comes to nutritional formulas, the architecture is simply about which nutrients are included, why they're there, and how they work together.
Unlike our herbal blends, VitaComplete isn't designed to influence a particular body system. Its job is to provide the everyday nutritional building blocks that hay-based diets may not supply in sufficient amounts.
How the formula works
VitaComplete brings together five complementary areas of nutritional support.
1. Essential minerals – Magnesium, Zinc, Copper, Selenium & Phosphorus - These support normal enzyme activity, metabolism, tissue maintenance and hoof development. The amounts and balance matter, particularly where forage is low in certain minerals or contains competing elements.
2. Essential fatty acids – Micronised Linseed - Fresh grass naturally supplies fatty acids that decline when forage is dried and stored. Linseed helps provide an alternative source of omega-3 fatty acids, supporting healthy cell membranes, skin and coat condition.
3. Salt – Sodium & Chloride - Horses need sodium and chloride for normal fluid balance, nerve signalling and muscle function. VitaComplete includes sea salt as part of the daily blend, although additional plain salt may be needed depending on workload, weather and individual requirements.
4. Essential amino acids – Lysine & Methionine - These are building blocks of protein, involved in muscle maintenance, tissue renewal and hoof growth. Including them alongside the minerals helps address another important part of a forage-based diet.
5. Antioxidant support – Vitamin E & Selenium - Both contribute to normal antioxidant defence, helping protect cells against everyday oxidative stress. Vitamin E is particularly worth considering in horses with limited fresh grazing, as its availability declines during forage storage.
The big picture
VitaComplete isn't about adding everything imaginable to a horse's feed. It's about bringing together minerals, amino acids, fatty acids, salt and vitamin E in one practical daily blend, designed with predominantly hay-fed horses in mind.
Five nutritional jobs, and a lot less clutter in the feed room.
Clinical considerations
Advisories
- Introduce gradually, especially with sensitive horses.
- Always provide fresh water and access to plain salt; additional salt may be needed during work or hot weather.
- Check total nutrient intake if feeding fortified feeds or other supplements.
Contraindications
- Avoid combining with another full-dose mineral balancer unless professionally advised.
VitaComplete FAQs
Why would I choose VitaComplete instead of EquiVita?
It comes down to what your horse is eating.
EquiVita is our mineral-focused balancer for horses enjoying plenty of fresh grazing.
VitaComplete is designed for horses relying mainly on hay or conserved forage, adding micronised linseed, amino acids, salt and vitamin E alongside the mineral specification.
Mostly grass? Think EquiVita. Mostly hay? Think VitaComplete.
Can I feed VitaComplete all year round?
Absolutely. VitaComplete isn't just for winter.
If your horse lives on a track system, has restricted grazing or eats hay for most of the year, VitaComplete may be the right choice throughout the seasons.
Follow the forage, not the calendar.
Why does a hay-based diet need different nutritional support?
Fresh grass provides nutrients, including essential fatty acids and vitamin E, that can decline when forage is cut, dried and stored.
VitaComplete brings together minerals, linseed, amino acids, salt and vitamin E to help support the nutritional needs of predominantly hay-fed horses.
Good hay is still the foundation. We're simply helping cover the gaps.
Do I still need to add salt or linseed?
VitaComplete already contains 100g micronised linseed and 10g sea salt per 175g daily serving, so there's generally no need to add linseed automatically.
However, horses may need additional plain salt, particularly during exercise, hot weather or heavy sweating.
Always provide fresh water and access to plain salt.
Can I feed VitaComplete alongside other supplements?
Yes, VitaComplete can form the nutritional foundation alongside targeted herbal support.
Just check for overlapping nutrients if you're also feeding fortified feeds, vitamin supplements or other mineral products.
We wouldn't recommend combining two full-dose mineral balancers without checking the total diet.
My horse looks perfectly healthy. Do they really need a balancer?
Looking well is lovely, but it doesn't always tell us whether every nutrient requirement is being met.
Even good-quality forage can have nutritional gaps, particularly in certain minerals and vitamins.
VitaComplete is designed for everyday nutritional support, not just horses showing obvious problems.
And we'd much rather get the feeding right before Ned starts sending us little hints through his coat and hooves!
