PUMPKIN SEEDS (GROUND) 🍂OCTOBER 20%-OFF SALE *Effective taenifuge / tapeworm expeller
Benefits of Pumpkin Seeds for Horses
Tapeworm testing? Pumpkin Seeds are renowned for their taenicide and taenifuge properties - taenicides are phytonutrients that specifically destroy tapeworms, with taenifuges expelling them. (From "taenia," which is a type of tapeworm, and "-fuge," meaning to drive out or expel.)
Pumpkin s eeds are also higher in protein (at 29%) than almost any other nut or seed, and are also an excellent source of Zinc and Vitamin A.
They also have an important anthelmintic property (basically a natural wormer) - cucurbitin (an amino acid) , which is regarded as being a very potent and effective teniafuge, said to be one of the most efficient remedies for killing intestinal parasites including tapeworms and roundworms, by causing degenerative changes in the worms' reproductive organs, with its zinc content also helping to expel worms.

Clinical Considerations
General Safety:
- Considered a safe, nutritious functional food source rich in zinc, magnesium, essential fatty acids, and protein.
- Widely used in both equine and human nutrition without contraindications.
- Non-toxic, non-allergenic (except in extremely rare individual sensitivities).
Contraindications:
- None known when used in normal dietary amounts.
- Excessive intake (well above feed guidelines) could theoretically contribute to mild digestive looseness due to natural oil content.
Cautions:
- Ensure seeds are plain and unsalted, free from flavouring or preservatives (which I know yours are).
- Store in cool, dry conditions as the natural oils can go rancid over time.
Pregnancy & Lactation:
- No known issues - safe for pregnant or nursing mares.
