Product Details
Pure, non-synthetic nutrient support for equine hooves, metabolism, and nervous system health, EquiNatural’s pharma-grade Magnesium Oxide is high-purity (98–100.5%) with 60.6% elemental magnesium content.
Ideal for metabolic support, hoof health, and forage balancing, it’s a must-have for horses needing extra magnesium in their diet.
Overview
Magnesium is also crucial for proper insulin function and glucose uptake into cells, with a deficiency potentially leading to issues such as insulin resistance, laminitis, and poor hoof quality.
Observations show that horses with signs of insulin resistance, such as a cresty neck and localised fat deposits, show positive responses to magnesium supplements within weeks, with improvements in hoof structure and function following within months. Composition & Feed Guide

Clinical Considerations
Generally recognised as safe for equine use when fed at recommended levels. Adverse effects are rare and usually associated with over-supplementation or low-purity sources.
Advisories & Considerations
- Do not exceed recommended feeding levels. Excess magnesium intake can, in rare cases, cause loose droppings or reduced feed intake.
- Not suitable for horses with kidney impairment unless under veterinary supervision, as magnesium is excreted renally.
- Monitor balance with calcium and phosphorus — prolonged high magnesium supplementation without dietary balance may affect mineral ratios.
- If your horse is on prescribed medications, particularly sedatives or calcium-channel blockers, check with your vet before feeding.
- Pregnant or nursing mares: safe within standard dietary limits, but consult your vet if combining multiple magnesium sources.
- Storage: keep sealed, cool, and dry to prevent clumping or moisture absorption
