Overview
Horses thrive on routine, and significant changes - such as the loss of a companion - can deeply affect their physical and emotional health. Emotional stress can take a toll on the heart, liver, and nervous system, leaving your horse unsettled and struggling to adapt.
At the core of emotional processing is the limbic system, a part of the brain that governs emotions, intuition, and memory. Central to this system is the amygdala, which plays a key role in managing emotional responses. For horses experiencing grief, adaptogen herbs are well known to help regulate amygdala function and support emotional balance, helping the horse 'adapt' to stress, gradually normalising their emotional response.
HarmonyTonic combines these powerful herbs to offer holistic support for your horse’s emotional and physical wellbeing during times of change.

Fussy Eater?
Some horses may have their own opinions (and strong tastebuds!), so now and then a new blend might need a little extra encouragement. This doesn’t reflect the quality or efficacy of the product, but rather their natural instinct towards new flavours.
Check out our Fussy Eaters page, or send us a message - we've many helpful tips to make introducing new supplements easier.
Footnotes
- Depending on the impact of loss, especially for the older horse, it's recommended to feed HarmonyTonic for 1-3 months.
- The other consideration is how long the horse has been experiencing grief. If longer than a week or two, inflammatory processes would also have been triggered in the body. Consider feeding DuoBute to reduce inflammation; equally feeding micronised Linseed (not linseed oil) is not only a high-nutrient feed but also high in the anti-inflammatory omega-3 essential amino acid, supporting low grade systemic inflammation.
- Feed as a minimum 1-month course.
- New to HarmonyTonic? Always start slow, a pinch at a time, slowly building up to the RDA.
- Laboratory tested for identification and compliance to the British and European Pharmacopoeia standards.
- Human grade.
- ♻️ Eco Note: Our packaging is recyclable and refillable.
- 🧊 Storage Tip: Keep cool and dry.
Clinical Considerations
Advisory
- Contains adaptogen herbs — best fed earlier in the day to align with natural cortisol rhythm.
- Caution if your horse is on steroid or immune-suppressant medications due to adaptogenic synergy (Rhodiola and Withania can mildly influence cortisol regulation).
Contraindications
- Not suitable for pregnant or nursing mares due to hormonal and adaptogenic activity.
- Avoid concurrent use with sedatives, antidepressant, or stimulant medications without veterinary guidance.
- Not advised during acute illness or fever - allow the body to stabilise first before use.
