JOINT HEALTH / NAVICULAR - "I am wondering whether you might have any suggestions for me regarding some natural pain relief for my 19yo navicular horse."
Our client went on to say that for the most part her boy is happy, active and well for his age. She keeps him barefoot, which after trialling many different shoeing options for his navicular, has proven to keep him the soundest. He only displays signs of footiness on stony ground, which she manages with booting. He's hacked out around 4 times per week including some hill work, and being a retired hunter he gets some long stretches of canter when the ground is good as he LOVES a good gallop!
At the time of writing she was now noticing initial signs of hock stiffness and discomfort, so was keen to find something to take the edge off any navicular pain and keep him moving well to manage the hocks. She's fed turmeric in various different forms, which didn't seem to help.
I pointing her to our natural bute alternatives, our joint and osteo herbal blends, and a suggestion to try him on Acetyl L-Carnitine amino acid which in our experience has an amazing loosening effect on joint muscles to effect a smoother, looser movement.
